Also, after this happens, my gpu memory and core clock automatically drop to what they are when the gpu is idling - and won't go back up even when I reopen the game, resulting in huge fps drops even when the game starts back up. The whole game then crashes, returning to the desktop - no error message. The audio stops, then returns for a brief second and stops again. When it crashes, the whole screen just pauses. I also externally turned down the distance scaling, so that far-away objects render only when I get closer. With low settings 1366X768 with 0.95 pixel density, I average around 25-30fps. I have tinkered around with the settings a bit. Recently, whenever I'm playing the game - say 10-15 minutes in - the game randomly crashes, especially when I'm driving. I just bought watch dogs 2 and have played it for a few hours at a stretch. I originally had fast sync enabled in NCP and have since switched to VSYNC ON in NCP and VSYNC off in game titanfall 2 now plays without any issue however WD2 still crashes, (note still improvement as i could hardly load the game before) Sorry for late reply, i have managed to finally get into the game however it still crashes mainly in shootouts when my life is on red, previously i could not get into game also titanfall 2 was another game that wouldn't load with instant messages on launch from Windows claiming that a problem had occurred, I THINK I HAVE FOUND A TEMP FIX Have you tried rolling back your GPU driver? Sounds like a driver or game update issue to me. You are not alone their buddy i played this game since launch on ultra with no issues at all with crashes however only in the last say about 4 weeks i get constant crashes 100% of the time and always 0-15 mins into the game sometimes i can hardly get past the ubisoft logo screen i have not changed any hardware in fact i have resorted to aggressively lowering settings to high and all other extras off and it still crashes. None of that has worked, though I did realise that the game crashes mostly during missions, or when I'm driving.

I've also tried running as admin, changing the priority of the game in task manager and using nvidia inspector to change the texture quality downscale thing (sorry, not sure what that's called).

It's strange since this only happened recently and I haven't updated the game recently, so there's been no changes to it. Borderless window, windowed, changing my resolution as well - none of that has seemed to work for me, though I have heard it work for other people.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes I have tried that. Doesn't seem to affect performance much, so is worth trying. Have you tried setting graphic options to "Windowed Borderless" (as opposed to the standard "Fullscreen")? I've found that this often helps improve stability for terrible console ports for some reason.
